What do we do?

The team’s role is to support/facilitate staff and Divisions in carrying out high quality clinical audit, promote best practice, provide training and work collaboratively with Divisions to support the achievement of the Trust’s objectives for Clinical Audit.

Clinical Audit Team activities include:-

  • Collate the Trust wide annual Better Outcomes for Patients Programme (BOPP) with the assistance of the Specialty Audit Leads.
  • Manage and oversee the process for the Trust’s participation in National Clinical Audits.
  • Support the Chief Medical Officer and Divisional Medical Directors in carrying out their responsibilities.
  • Assist in the further development and implementation of clinical audit within the Trust.
  • Develop and implement clinical audit procedures and techniques.
  • Provide advice, support and practical help to prioritised projects from the annual BOPP.
  • Provide clinical audit training to identified staff.
  • Maintain the Trust clinical audit system.
  • Allocate clinical audit resources and capacity within the department.
  • Support and facilitate cross-boundary audits.
  • Monitor that the process for registration of clinical audits is followed in line with the Clinical Audit policy.
  • Provide assistance, support and practical help to clinical audits where possible.
  • Develop clinical audit tools and data capture systems.
  • Analysis and report writing.
  • Review and facilitate clinical audit activity registered on the audit system by quality checking registrations, reports and action plans.
