Resuscitation overview

A policy is a general set of ideas or principle of action in a particular field, which should be based on evidence, legislation, best practice and statute and incorporate any standards laid down by recognised professional bodies or other national or NHS institutions where such are available.

In general terms, a policy explains what we will do and why we will do it. A policy once implemented is mandatory for all staff and failure to comply may result in disciplinary action.

Pathway Information

This resuscitation policy fully supports the recommendations for clinical practice and training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation published by the Resuscitation Council UK, 2013 and the recommendations of the National Confidential Enquiry into Patient Outcome and Death report “Time to Intervene” 2012.

The purpose of the policy is to provide direction and guidance for the organisation, training and delivery of an effective resuscitation service on all sites of the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust.
